Lighting is difficult to judge from a brochure. Beam spread, color temperature, how much light a fixture actually throws onto a stucco wall at twenty feet, none of that translates well to a photograph.
So the consultation brings the fixtures to the property. Sample lighting goes up on the house, on the trees, along the walkway, and decisions get made looking at the real thing on the real elevation rather than guessing from a spec sheet.
It also keeps the planning honest. Fixture counts, placement and color temperature get settled while everyone is standing in the yard, which is a better time to change your mind than after the wire is buried.
